Greece imposes nationwide restrictions on goat and sheep movement to combat a deadly viral outbreak, known as "goat plague" or PPR virus, affecting goats and sheep without adverse human health effects. The PPR virus has caused severe illness and death in Greece, with over 7,000 animals culled in the hardest-hit region, Thessaly. The virus, highly contagious among goats and sheep, can kill up to 70% of infected animals.
