Delhi court suspends five-month sentence of Medha Patkar in 23-year-old defamation case filed by former Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena. Patkar was granted bail on a bond of ₹25,000. The case dates back to 2000 when Patkar accused Saxena, then associated with an NGO supporting the Sardar Sarovar Project, of being a "coward" and involved in hawala transactions. Saxena filed two cases against Patkar, and in May 2022, the court convicted her.
