Chinese gold production and consumption increased in H1 2024, driving innovation in global markets, according to World Gold Council CEO David Tait.

World Gold Council CEO David Tait believes the Chinese gold market, as the world's largest gold consumer and producer, will continue driving innovation in global gold markets including gold bar integrity, digitalization, and responsible supply chains. China's gold production reached 179.634 tonnes in H1 2024, with gold consumption at 523.753 tonnes. Gold prices increased by 12% in the first half of the year.
