14 people, including a TV journalist Avneesh Dixit, were arrested in Kanpur, India for allegedly taking over government land worth over ₹1,000 crore. The group trespassed on about 7,500 sq m of land in the Civil Lines area, whose lease from 1884 expired in 2012. Accused face charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
