33-year-old Gustavo Reyes Gonzalez developed incurable silicosis after cutting engineered stone countertops six days a week. The lung disease, caused by inhaling crystalline silica, led to lung transplantation and a limited lifespan. Reyes Gonzalez and his family filed a lawsuit against countertop companies, including Caesarstone, for insufficient safety measures and protection against silica exposure.
