Thailand plans to establish three "Wild Elephant Behaviour Modification Centres" in eastern provinces, following an increase in wild elephants leaving forests to find food, which leads to disturbances in local communities. The Department of National Parks Wildlife and Plant Conservation has been ordered by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment to create these centres to tame aggressive elephants and promote a balanced coexistence between people and wild elephants.
