SERAP sues Nigeria's Central Bank to explain over N100bn in "dirty and bad notes" since 2017.
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) filed a lawsuit against Nigeria's Central Bank (CBN) seeking to direct the bank to explain the whereabouts of over N100bn ($220m) in "dirty and bad notes" and other large sums of cash held in various branches of the CBN since 2017. The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos, also seeks an explanation for outstanding loans granted to Enugu and Anambra states governments.
