Professor Richard Scolyer, joint Australian of the Year, has trialed a new immunotherapy treatment devised by fellow Australian of the Year, Professor Georgina Long, for his aggressive glioblastoma. The pioneering treatment has allowed him to survive past the average survival time for the incurable brain cancer, now 14 months. The immunotherapy regime is the first of its kind and offers hope for cancer patients who previously had limited options.
