Iran's new President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Mohammad Reza Aref, a reformist with a PhD from Stanford, as First Vice President. Aref served under former President Mohammad Khatami and has held positions in the Ministry of Post, Telegraph and Telephone, and the country's Management and Planning Organization. Pezeshkian's inauguration, attended by foreign delegations, is scheduled for Tuesday.
