India's Manika Batra advanced to the Round of 32 in women's singles table tennis at the Paris Olympics, defeating Great Britain's Anna Hursey 4-1 (11-8, 12-10, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5). However, top male paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal experienced a shock exit in the men's singles, losing 2-4 to Deni Kozul of Slovenia. Sreeja Akula also entered the round of 32 with a 4-0 win over Sweden's Christina Kallberg.
