President Tinubu establishes SCO-PMU in Nigeria to oversee $2.2bn health sector grants.
President Bola Tinubu approves establishment of Sector-wide Coordinating Office-Programme Management Unit (SCO-PMU) in Nigeria to oversee efficient, transparent, and accountable management of $2.2bn in external grants for the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII). The SCO-PMU, based in the Office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, will report to a Steering Committee/Ministerial Oversight Committee and oversee program management, monitoring and evaluation, engagement with Independent Verification Agents, and fiduciary management. Dr. Muntaqa Umar Sadiq, an experienced public health professional, has been appointed as the National Coordinator of the SCO-PMU. The NHSRII aims to save lives, minimize physical and financial pains, and ensure the health of all Nigerians.
