Mattel has introduced a Black Barbie doll with Down syndrome, following a focus group collaboration with the National Down Syndrome Society. The project included Taylor Freeman, a 21-year-old Clemson student with Down syndrome, and her mother Ayoca. They provided feedback on the doll's facial features, such as an oval-shaped face, slanted eyes, and a flat nose, to make it relatable.
