Massachusetts-based Steward Health Care closes Carney Hospital and Nashoba Valley Medical Center due to failed sale attempts.
Massachusetts-based Steward Health Care is closing two hospitals, Carney Hospital in Dorchester and Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, after failing to find a buyer for them. The company filed for bankruptcy in May, aiming to address its $9bn debt by selling its 31 hospitals. Steward has managed to secure buyers for some properties, but there were no bids for the two mentioned hospitals, leading to their closure by the end of August.
