Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Commission requires platforms with 8M+ users to apply for a Class Licence by Jan 1, 2025, to combat cybercrime.
Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has mandated social media and internet messaging services with at least eight million registered users to apply for a Class Licence under a new regulatory framework. Starting August 1, platforms must comply with Malaysian laws to combat cybercrime, with enforcement of the licence requirement beginning January 1, 2025. Failure to obtain a license will be considered an offense under the Communications and Multimedia Act.
