Kerala High Court orders 28 lawyers of Kottayam Bar Association to offer free legal aid for six months to avoid contempt of court proceedings. The lawyers had raised abusive slogans against a Chief Judicial Magistrate last year, and their unconditional apologies were accepted by the court. However, the court stated that mere apologies were not enough and the lawyers should provide free legal services to the poor and needy as a remedial measure.
