On July 18, two Good Samaritans prevented a wildfire on Lake Cowichan Highway in the Cowichan Valley Regional District. A water truck driver stopped to extinguish a small brush fire, while a citizen reported the fire and stayed on-site to guide the fire department to its location. Sahtlam Fire Chief Eric Clifton praised their actions and plans to thank the water truck driver, whose identity remains unknown.
