Former correctional officer Darrell Wayne Smith faces 15 counts of sexual abuse, including a civil rights violation, for the alleged abuse of five female inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Dublin between 2016 and 2021. Smith, known as "Dirty Dick" by detainees, is accused of abusing the women in their cells and a laundry facility. The FCI Dublin was closed in April due to not meeting standards and a history of abuse and employee misconduct.
