80-year-old WWII airman Ralph H. Bode's remains identified using anthropological analysis and DNA.

80 years after his death, the remains of Staff Sgt. Ralph H. Bode, a Wisconsin airman killed during WWII, have been identified. Bode was a tail gunner on a B-24H Liberator that was shot down over Kassel, Germany, during a bombing mission on Sept. 27, 1944. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency identified his remains using anthropological analysis and mitochondrial DNA. Bode was 20 years old.
