The UN Human Rights Committee has voiced concern over alleged discrimination and violence against minority groups in India, including religious minorities, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and LGBTI people. The Committee also raised concerns about the prolonged use of counter-terrorism laws in regions like Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, and Assam. The Committee urges India to adopt comprehensive anti-discrimination laws, raise public awareness, train civil servants and law enforcement officers, and establish a mechanism to address human rights violations.
