Scotland's Flow Country, covering 1,500 square miles in Caithness and Sutherland, becomes the UK's newest UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it the world's first ever peatland site to gain world heritage status. This natural, carbon-storing habitat is considered the largest area of blanket bog globally. As the first natural world heritage site in Scotland, it joins a list that includes the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef.
