New Zealand's Coalition Government has allocated $609.25m in Budget 2024 for state highway recovery projects after the North Island Weather Events (NIWE). The funding includes $131.3m for Northland, $21m for Coromandel, and $250m for the East Coast, with projects expected to be completed by late 2025 for Coromandel and late 2025 for Hawke's Bay, and mid-2026 for Tairāwhiti. The government also invests $50m for local road response and $280m to support 13 councils affected by NIWE.
