Governor Whitmer orders U.S. and Michigan flags to be lowered to half-staff on July 26 in honor of fallen Melvindale Police Officer Mohamed Said, who passed away in the line of duty. Whitmer described Said as a pillar of his community and a public servant who always helped those in need. Said graduated from Melvindale High School and Wayne County Regional Police Academy, and joined the Melvindale Police Department in 2023.
