India's government has provided nearly Rs 37,000 crore in fertiliser subsidies by July 22, 2024, to ensure affordable crop nutrients for farmers. The subsidies are distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in Fertilizers, which offers 100% subsidies on various fertiliser grades to companies, based on Aadhar-authenticated sales. Since 2010-11, fertiliser subsidies have decreased from Rs 65,836.68 crore to Rs 1,57,640.1 crore in 2021-22.
