Former UK Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride announces his candidacy for the Conservative leadership race to replace Rishi Sunak. Stride becomes the fourth person to enter the race after former Home Secretary James Cleverly and former Home Office ministers Tom Tugendhat and Robert Jenrick. Stride, who has the backing of 10 MPs, announced his candidacy on Friday.
