Door County's Highway U reopened after a $200,000 repair of a washed-out culvert due to intense rainstorms.
Door County's Highway U, closed since June due to a washed-out culvert, has reopened after repairs. The intense rainstorms led to a 20 feet wide and 12 feet deep gap at the intersection of Rosewood Road and Shiloh Road. The Door County Highway Department installed a 200 feet long culvert and gravel, and cautions drivers to reduce speeds on the recently repaired roadway. The estimated cost of the fix is $200,000, with potential reimbursement from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
