India's Union Government has established 102 Comprehensive Lactation Management Centres (CLMC) and Lactation Management Units (LMU) to ensure safe, pasteurized donor human milk for sick, preterm, and low birth weight babies admitted to intensive care units. As of fiscal year 2023-24, 52 CLMCs and 50 LMUs are operational, providing essential nutrients and protection against illnesses, while preventing prematurity-related morbidities.
