Australian field hockey player Matt Dawson amputated part of his finger to compete in the Paris Olympics. Dawson broke a digit on his right hand during team training and faced months of recovery. Instead, he chose to remove the finger from the knuckle up to participate in his third Games, shocking his teammates and coach. Dawson will play with the Kookaburras against Argentina just 16 days after his injury.
