Without a standard regulatory limit for cabin temperature during boarding, overheated airplane cabins could become a problem as aviation traffic increases and global heat records break. The Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), the largest flight attendant union in the US, has been advocating for a standard since 2018. A United flight bound for Atlanta experienced triple-digit cabin temperatures due to hours on the tarmac during delays, leading to at least one passenger needing medical treatment for overheating.
