39-year-old Kapil Gala, a man with achondroplasia (dwarfism), underwent a complex aortic valve replacement surgery at Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre. Initially scheduled for spinal surgery, Gala was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis during pre-operative assessments, requiring an open-heart surgery with a mechanical valve implant. This marks only the third such case worldwide.
