A Belgian tourist visiting Death Valley National Park was hospitalized after suffering third-degree burns on his feet from walking barefoot on the hot sand dunes at the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes section. The 42-year-old man lost his flip-flops while taking a short walk in 123-degree heat, and despite his family and other visitors helping him, he required urgent medical attention due to the severity of his burns.
