Vermont's Treasurer's Office holds $130m in unclaimed assets, including cash, gold, and family heirlooms, with a record 19,010 claims processed in 2024, returning $5.8m to Vermonters. The office doesn't auction assets, instead, they're stored until claimed by rightful owners or heirs. The unclaimed property includes uncashed checks, forgotten security deposits, investments, and other financial assets.
