A new study in the American Cancer Society's journal found that 4 in 10 cancer cases among U.S. adults and 44% of cancer-related deaths are linked to modifiable risk factors such as smoking, excess weight, and drinking alcohol. Many people are unaware of the connection between these factors and cancer risk. The research analyzed how modifiable risk factors impacted cancer cases in 2019, excluding non-melanoma skin cancer.
