The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, has recommended extending the terms of nine additional judges at the Calcutta High Court by one year. The collegium, comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai, did not suggest these judges for permanent positions at this time. The extension recommendation follows the Calcutta High Court's unanimous recommendation in April to appoint the nine judges as permanent judges.
