Irish broadcaster RTE blocked its news bulletins in Northern Ireland over content containing Olympic footage, as it only has rights to broadcast the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Republic of Ireland. The BBC holds exclusive rights for Northern Ireland. RTE normally allows Northern Ireland viewers to watch its full news bulletins, but occasionally blocks sporting events that are also broadcast on UK channels.
