The Philippines Department of Education (DepEd) plans to create a task force to enhance Filipino students' performance in international assessments like PISA. Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara revealed short-term and long-term strategies, including adding reading periods and revising the curriculum for teachers. The task force will focus on improving the country's ranking, which in 2022 placed it 77th out of 81 countries in PISA.
