Origin Energy approves a $450m second stage for its large-scale battery project at Eraring Power Station, adding a 240MW, 4-hour storage battery to the existing 460MW, 2-hour battery. Both batteries, with combined energy storage of over 2GW, are expected to help keep the grid stable and support variable renewable energy entering the system. Construction on the second stage is set to begin in 2025, with completion projected for the first quarter of 2027.
