A motorcyclist died after fleeing from police and crashing on State Highway 35 in Gisborne. Emergency services were called about 4pm after a motorcycle hit a parked vehicle. Police had signalled for the rider to stop, but they fled, and later the motorcycle was found crashed with the rider deceased. State Highway 35 has since reopened, and the Serious Crash Unit completed a scene examination.
