Jan de Nul names world's largest cable-laying vessel, William Thomson, for renewable energy deployment.
Jan de Nul has named its new XL cable laying vessel, identical to the previously ordered Fleeming Jenkin, as William Thomson, after an Irish scientist. The William Thomson will feature three carousels and a 28,000-tonne cable-carrying capacity, making it the largest cable-laying vessel in the world. Capable of laying cables in shallow and ultra-deep waters up to 3,000 meters, the vessel will help facilitate the global transition to renewable energy.
