2024: First-in-human implantation of BiVACOR's Total Artificial Heart in a patient with end-stage heart failure.
The Texas Heart Institute and BiVACOR announced the successful first-in-human implantation of BiVACOR's Total Artificial Heart (TAH) on 9 July 2024. The device, a titanium-constructed biventricular rotary blood pump with a single moving part, was implanted in a patient with end-stage heart failure as a bridge to heart transplant. The surgery marks a significant milestone for the medical device company.
