European Court of Human Rights upholds French law penalizing clients of sex workers.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that a French law criminalising clients of sex workers does not violate the European Convention on Human Rights. The 2016 law, which imposes fines of up to €1,500 on buyers of sex, was challenged by 261 sex workers who claimed it posed risks to their physical and mental health and infringed on their right to a private life. The ECHR's decision upholds the French law, despite concerns from the claimants and various associations.
