Air Force Lt. Gen. Steven S. Nordhaus has been nominated to become the next chief of the National Guard Bureau, replacing retiring Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson. Nordhaus, currently a senior commander at NORAD, would be promoted to four-star general and join the Joint Chiefs of Staff if confirmed. The nomination comes during a period of leadership vacancies at the bureau, leaving the Air Guard and Army Guard without permanent leadership.
