A Wisconsin man, Paul Kovacik, fled to Ireland to avoid a prison sentence for participating in the Capitol riot. Federal authorities allege that Kovacik sought asylum in Ireland and defied a court order to serve a three-month sentence. Kovacik was arrested upon his voluntary return to the US and is currently serving his sentence. A conviction on a new charge could result in additional prison time.
