Thailand's Finance Minister announces a $13.85bn digital wallet handout scheme, aimed at stimulating the sluggish economy, which faces low income and high household debt. The government plans to transfer 10,000 baht ($277) to 50 million recipients via a smartphone app, to be spent in their localities within six months. The scheme forms part of stimulus policies to tackle structural issues and boost the economy's growth projection of 2.4% this year.
