The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revoked the license of Tezpur-based Mahabhairab Cooperative Urban Bank due to its deteriorating financial condition. The bank's operations ceased on July 24, 2024, as it lacked adequate capital and earning prospects, posing a risk to depositors' interests. Depositors are entitled to insurance claim amounts of up to Rs 5 lakh from the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC).
