Kenya's President William Ruto appoints John Mbadi, an ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga and chairman of the opposition Orange Democratic Movement, as Cabinet Secretary for Treasury. The move is part of Ruto's attempt to form a government of national unity to address anti-government protests and promote public support. Mbadi replaces Njuguna Ndung'u, a former central bank governor.
