The previous record of 17.08°C was set in July 2023. Heatwaves have affected large parts of the US, Europe, and Russia over the past week. In 2022, global temperature records were broken for four consecutive days, from 3 to 6 July, attributed to ongoing climate change caused by fossil fuel burning.
