100% effective HIV injection for women: In a study of 5,000 in South Africa and Uganda, twice-yearly injections offered complete protection against HIV infections among young women and girls. The shots, made by US drugmaker Gilead and sold as Sunlenca, are approved for HIV treatment but not prevention. Gilead is waiting for results of testing in men before seeking permission to use it to protect against infection.
