Canada and B.C. signed two bilateral health-care agreements worth $426 million, focused on enhancing wages for personal support workers and improving access to and affordability of drugs for rare diseases. The first agreement is an amendment to the $733 million Aging with Dignity agreement, adding $232 million over five years to improve compensation for publicly funded health-care assistants. The second agreement aims to expand access to drugs used to treat rare diseases. Both agreements are firsts in Canada and are fully funded by Ottawa.
