65-year-old Michael Lockwood, former police watchdog chief, has been cleared of 17 historic sex offenses at the Old Bailey. The charges involved three rapes and 14 indecent assaults against two 14-year-old girls between 1979 and 1986, when Lockwood worked as a lifeguard. Jurors found him not guilty after a trial at London's Central Criminal Court. Lockwood had resigned from his position as director general of the Independent Office for Police Conduct in December 2022 when the allegations surfaced.
