ICE reports June 2024 U.S. mortgage delinquency rate up 14.5% to 3.49%, its second-highest level in 18 months due to calendar-driven spike on a Sunday month-end. Payments made on last day of month are not processed until next month. Serious delinquencies (90+ days past due) up 5.1% from May, but down 8.5% year over year and 10.1% below pre-pandemic levels. Foreclosure starts declined 6.2%, pushing active foreclosure inventory to its lowest point since pandemic moratoriums.
